Recognising the need to support skills and career development within the industry, Pubs of Ulster is actively working with People 1st and UKSP.co.uk
People 1st (The Sector Skills Council for the hospitality, leisure, travel & tourism industries) ensuring only industry valued qualifications are in place and that Government funding benefits the sector, Identifying the organizations that offer excellent education and training programmes for employers and learners in order to help individuals identify the right career route, gain the skills and knowledge needed to progress, and find the best employers who will help them grow and develop.
People 1st provides the strategic focus for the development and implementation of standards, training and qualifications and it represents the interests of the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism related businesses, to Governments and partners on these and other education and training issues. Their remit is to engage with employers on a sectoral bases and represent their needs to key partners and stakeholders within the UK countries and regions.
UKSP is a unique website bringing together information on funding, careers, jobs, qualifications, employers and learning providers for the sector. It’s a ‘one stop shop’ for employers and individual to find all the information they need about developing a career in hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism, and improving the skills of employees.
With an interactive career map and guides to the best employers, qualifications and providers, UKSP also matched job seekers with Good Employers – those who are committed to training and developing their teams – and who can advertise vacancies on the site at very competitive rates.
UKSP is free for individuals and there are now over 40,000 registered, including the majority of students due to graduate from studying industry-specific qualifications with the next year.
